Be All You Can Be

With this month marking the 250th year of the US Army, I’ve been thinking about my service as an Airborne Rigger. I enlisted in 1986 during the time of, “Be All You Can Be.”
That slogan was all over––TV and radio commercials, magazines, newspapers, billboards, bumper stickers, and events. It’s the longest running recruitment slogan of all time, making it iconic. It was so successful the first time around (1981-2001), they brought it back in 2023 but with a more modern approach.
Those five words got in my veins. Not sure I could have named it back then, and no lie, the road for me had some detours. But I can see it now. The message behind the words instilled a drive in me to keep learning, growing, and pushing forward. To be my best self and live my best life. I think I’m finally doing it. And I wish for all of you––every day––to be all that you can be. It’s quite the ride.
