Happy Father’s Day

It’s hard to believe that when Father’s Day was first proposed in the early 1900s there was push back. Many men thought it was a way to “domesticate manliness” and a commercial gimmick. It took time to take root and wasn’t made a federal holiday until 62 years later.

With more than $1 billion dollars spent in the US today, it’s true Father’s Day can be seen as commercial. However it doesn’t have to be. Experiences and thoughtful gestures can be just as celebratory and often more memorable.

I believe that being a great father is the most important job I have. And I love it! I want to help my kids build positive life skills and provide them with experiences to learn and shine. I teach them to appreciate people and see the humanness in everyone we meet. That’s a manliness I value and can get behind. So celebrate! Happy Father’s Day! 👨‍🚀
