Moving Through It

Life events can be both predictable and unpredictable. Our CEG team has been through tough personal losses over the last few years. Although the cycle of life is predictable, loss can be devastating. Grief is messy. It’s layered. And it’s individual. It generally comes in waves, sometimes with a gentle back and forth, other times treacherous and pounding. But in that mess, it delivers time for reflection.
I’m a believer that we can’t control events, but we can control how we react. Reflection during grief can bring growth, forgiveness, and a renewed sense of life. Through all the walks, talks, and moments of solitude, reflection helps us make sense of what happened. It also helps plot out how we move forward––through every moment, each day, and the years ahead. What do we want it to look like while moving through it? Do we simply focus on breathing? Do we quickly rise to seize the day?
Positive choices and uplifting perspectives can be a great way to honor those that passed. Each of us is responsible for creating our own happy life. For me, I want to be able to say at the end, “I lived a good life and left nothing on the table.”
