Being Part of a Community

There are probably thousands of studies out there about the benefits of being part of a community. But one only has to BE part of a community (hopefully a positive one 😉) to know when you’re part of a group, you feel better mentally and physically. You may notice a burst of energy or the world looks a little brighter. Maybe you feel supported or it gives you a sense of purpose.

Community involvement is often centered around religion, professions, or common interests. For my family, we are active in our church community, which is also tied to Levi’s school. A few weeks ago, Commercial Equities Group was a sponsor for their largest fundraiser. Held in a repurposed historic movie theater (now an event space with art deco flare), the night offered a time for the church and school community to come together for a single purpose: raise money for school improvements, services, and scholarships. It was a chance for us to support a common cause that benefit children in our community. It’s an investment in the future.

These events are also networking events where people make connections. Those interactions may be where your next deal comes from, or the person you’re chatting with may have the exact skills a client is looking for. The benefits of being part of a community are multilayered. It’s when me becomes we and pools our strength to do what we couldn’t do alone.
