Why Wouldn't You?

A few members of our team were part of a 4-day commercial real estate investing intensive earlier this month called Power Players. Between the real estate strategy sessions and the moments that forced us out of our comfort zones, this was an experience that transformed minds, perspectives, and how business is done.

For one exercise, we split up into teams with a leader and headed out to the streets and shops of Bend, Oregon. Our challenge was to ask strangers for items on a list like a hat, sunglasses, or a round of drinks, each worth points. We couldn’t lie, offer things in exchange, or explain why we were asking. We just had to put the ridiculous request out there!

In the beginning, we prejudged and thought, “That guy is not going to. That woman might.” But as we continued, we got into it and became bold enough to ask everyone! We were surprised who was willing to part with their favorite accessory or buy a group of strangers a round of coffee.

When we got back to the class, we had piles of hats and even Ray-Ban sunglasses! Ultimately, you never know who will say yes and who will say no. There are opportunities all around!

As Greg Pineo told our group, comfort and growth rarely live in the same place. Get out of your comfort zone and ask the ridiculous. Why wouldn't you? You might be surprised who says yes. 👨‍🚀
