Have you ever felt someone’s good mood lift you up? Or have you noticed a person in a bad mood can bring down the energy in the whole room? Just like the downtown skyline reflects a gorgeous sunset, humans tend to mirror each other.

Every positive action creates a ripple effect, shaping who you are and how your life goes, while spreading joy to those around you. Here are my five suggestions for bringing this mindset into your daily life:
1. Start with intentional mornings. I like to get up before the sun to start my day on the right foot. A team member begins her early mornings reciting who and what she’s grateful for. Either way, open your eyes to something positive and that energy will guide your outlook for the day.
2. Know your baseline and center yourself when needed. Some people meditate or journal. I find that remembering to breathe deeply, pray, or take a walk resets my baseline. Looking at water also works. The color of water and its reflection have proven to relax the brain.

3. Instead of wanting, choose giving. Focus on what you can offer rather than what you lack. If you want more love, give more love. If you want more happiness, put more joy out there. If you want support, give support to others. I’ve learned that what you put out there is what you get back.
4. Be mindful to what you send out. Stress creeps in all our lives. We’re busy and have a lot pulling us in different directions. Patience is tested, but I find that when I take a moment to assess my approach and energy, I have better interactions. I’m not perfect, but I enjoy life better when I keep a positive tone. I’m a work in progress, like all of us.
5. Audit your thoughts and words. Pay attention to your complaints and criticisms. When I find myself speaking or thinking negatively, I’m training myself to pause and reframe using gratitude or solution-based statements. Thoughts become words and words become actions. Putting a positive spin on either alters “my world” which spreads to those around me.
Conclusion
The energy we project directly shapes our reality and influences the people around us. By intentionally practicing mindfulness, gratitude, and generosity, we can shift our internal baseline from negative to positive. Ultimately, adopting these small, daily habits creates a powerful ripple effect, transforming our own lives while lifting the spirits of our community. Remember, like attracts like.
